The way we work is centred in culture, empowerment and community.
Through simple, circular design applied holistically at every stage, we build Wellbeing Frameworks.
We start with story - co-designing your ‘Story of Change,’ Interplay’s version of a change theory, to drive the creation of your Wellbeing Framework - synthesising the impact you hope to create, the basis and the application.
Together we create measures for project evaluation, utilising rigorously tested Survey & Indicators tools built upon years of deep research.
Then we create tools for implementation in varied forms of reporting, such as data visualisation, dashboards and survey. These tools sharing the ongoing impacts of your community program or project. Answering questions such as, what factors contributed in what way? How will impact present itself?
We have relationally developed tools and services that empower communities as active partners. To assess and measurably improve collective wellbeing. These tools are underpinned by rigorous scientific methodology and overarchingly, collaborative indigenous wisdom.

We have a tailored ‘shared space’ model of working. We place the people impacted by program outcomes at the centre of design. Engaging community leaders and members to become designers, builders and evaluators.
Shared understanding is nurtured in places and ways that people feel familiar and safe, including yarning circles and small focus groups.
Our approach is personal, adapted for all key contributors. Collaboration at every stage, at every level. With the outcome to develop shared knowledge and create new ways of working together, at the speed of trust.

This process enables Interplay to work with you to build innovative frameworks for monitoring and evaluation, while ensuring communities retain control of their own data and their collective wellbeing.

The Interplay Map is a 'shared space' visual and statistical map of wellbeing. It helps communities and partners understand how different parts of a system interrelate and how to strengthen causal pathways for change.

Interplay’s ‘Story of Change’ tools enable us to work with you to design a wellbeing framework that is relevant to your priorities and goals. Our assessment tools enable us to work with you to identify the key activities required to drive the outcomes that will translate into measurable impact.
A scientifically validated wellbeing framework from stories
We work in a “shared space” with communities to understand peoples position, needs and values through stories.
We represent these stories in numerical data to quantify holistic wellbeing.
Aboriginal peoples’ values and knowledge are held in stories, and governments and other partners value evidence in numbers to measure impact. By bringing together stories and numbers, we are able to create a bridge. We use this data to understand wellbeing needs across different communities.
‘Interplay Mapping’ is a holistic approach to analysing wellbeing
We map our data holistically to create a visual tool that gives you and your community an easy to understand measure of community wellbeing. We call this Interplay Mapping.
The Interplay Map is a 'shared space' visual and statistical map of wellbeing. It helps communities and partners understand how different parts of a system interrelate and how to strengthen causal pathways for change.
Importantly, the Interplay model can evaluate programs while they’re ‘live’. This means that feedback and data is used to inform the design and improve the program while it is running.
Interplay maps work to build knowledge and strengthen practice for sustainable impact in communities.
We can work with you to design an Interplay Map for your needs.
